Card Condition Guide

At Crit Hit, we take the time to carefully look over every card so you know exactly what to expect when it arrives. Whether it’s a card that feels fresh out of the pack or one that’s seen a little more play, we want you to feel confident in what you’re adding to your collection. Below, you’ll find our condition guide, which explains how we describe the state of our cards and what that means for your purchase.

Near Mint (NM) – Excellent Condition

Near Mint cards are in excellent shape and look very close to pack-fresh. They may show very light signs of handling, such as a few tiny surface scuffs or faint marks visible only under certain lighting, but nothing that distracts from the overall appearance. Edges and corners remain clean with little to no whitening, and any wear will be minimal. The card should lay flat with no bends or creases, and both front and back will be free of dirt, stains, or ink. Foil cards in this category may show slight clouding or a couple of light surface scratches but will still maintain a strong shine and eye appeal.

Lightly Played (LP) – Minor Wear

Lightly Played cards show some gentle signs of use but remain in very good shape for both play and collecting. The surface may have light scratches, faint scuffs, or slight clouding, though nothing that makes the card unattractive or unplayable. Edges and corners can show a bit of whitening or small nicks, but wear at this level is considered normal. The front and back may display mild handling marks, but there won’t be any major stains or writing. Some cards may have tiny factory creases from the printing process, which are acceptable in this condition, but they will not have creases or bends caused by play. Foil cards may show a little clouding, some light surface scratching, or minor edge wear, but they will still hold their shine and overall appeal.

Moderately Played (MP) – Heavier Wear

Moderately Played cards show obvious signs of handling and age. Surfaces may have multiple scratches, scuffs, clouding, creases, or light dirt marks, and small areas of surface wear are acceptable. Edges and corners will often have noticeable whitening, chipping, or dings, with some cards showing heavier edge wear. Minor stains, ink marks, or discoloration may be present as long as the card details remain clear. Creases, bends, or small tears (up to around ½ inch) can fall into this condition, provided the card is still intact. Foil cards may show significant surface wear, clouding, edge wear, or warping, but they remain a solid choice for collectors looking for a more affordable option.

Damaged Cards

We do not sell cards that are considered Heavily Played or Damaged. Any cards that have large tears, water damage, ink marks, missing pieces, or severe surface wear are discarded and not included in our inventory.
