Card Condition Guide

At Crit Hit, we carefully look over every card so you know exactly what to expect when it arrives. Whether it feels fresh out of the pack or has seen a bit more play, our goal is to give you confidence in what you’re adding to your collection. Card condition isn’t black and white, it’s subjective, and small differences in opinion can happen, but we follow a consistent system so you always know what to expect when ordering from us.

Near Mint (NM)

Cards in Near Mint condition are as close to pack fresh as you can reasonably expect.

  • May have very minor imperfections
  • Light edge or corner wear only visible on close inspection
  • Very faint surface marks may be present

At a quick glance, the card should look clean and well-kept.

Examples:

Lightly Played (LP)

Lightly Played cards show some minor signs of use but are still in solid overall condition.

  • Small edge wear or slight whitening
  • Surface scratches or scuffs
  • Very small imperfections that don’t distract from the card

No major damage, and still looks great in a binder.

Examples:

Moderately Played (MP)

Moderately Played cards have more noticeable wear and may include minor damage.

  • Clear edge wear and whitening
  • Surface scratches or scuffs
  • Bends or light creasing may be present

Cards in this condition may not be ideal for collectors but are still fine for casual play.

Examples:

Damaged Cards

Damaged cards have major flaws that impact both appearance and structure.

  • Large creases, tears, or peeling
  • Water damage or warping
  • Ink damage, stains, or missing pieces

These cards may not be tournament legal and are typically only suitable for very casual use or collection fillers. These cards are discarded and not included in our inventory.

We grade every card personally and do our best to stay fair and consistent based on its overall condition. That said, grading isn’t an exact science. It’s subjective, and small differences in opinion can happen from person to person. Our goal is always to match what most collectors would reasonably expect for each condition, so you can feel confident in what you’re getting. If you’re ever unsure or have specific expectations, we recommend sticking with higher-condition cards or reaching out before ordering. We’re always happy to help.
